Hello Everyone-
There is a Hearings Officer meeting tomorrow for the proposed Chevron Gas Station near Bethany Lake. And a recording of yesterday’s public testimony at the Washington County Board of Commissioners.
Thursday January 20th at 9am there will be a public Hearings Officer meeting about the Chevron Gas Station near Bethany Lake.
However, the applicant, Bob Barman, sent a letter last week to inform the County he will ask for another continuance at this hearing. This means tomorrow’s meeting will likely be quick as the applicant intends to ask to reschedule the Hearing until June presumably so they can change their building plan (letter). This will be the second reschedule by the applicant for this Hearing.
Members of the public can join, ask questions about the application, and the applicant’s representatives will attend.
Join the meeting via Zoom on Jan 20th at 9am

Yesterday, a community member gave two minutes of testimony at the Washington County Board of Commissioners meeting. We are continuing to seek volunteers who want to testify; our goal is to have someone in front of the Board once a month until they pass land use code updates to prevent gas stations near sensitive sites.

There is a Washington County Commissioners primary election coming up in May for 3 out of 5 Commissioner seats. We want to see gas station land use discussed amongst the candidates. Please consider emailing the candidates about where they stand on protecting public resources from gas stations.
