Hello Everyone-
Tomorrow is the Hearing’s Officer meeting about the Chevron near Bethany Lake is scheduled for tomorrow Thursday November 17th 2022 at 1:00pm. The meeting will happen over Zoom and everyone is welcome to attend and make a public comment.
As a reminder Washington County Staff recommended that the application be approved in their Staff Report. However, we disagree that this application should be approved and the third party hearings officer will hear our campaign’s objections via our land use attorney during the comment period of the Hearing.
The most effective comments in opposition tomorrow will focus on the Community Development Code and how the application fails to meet details of that code. I have received written comments from a number of you that follow this effective pattern and, if you wish, you can find instructions on how to comment during the hearing in the agenda document.
No matter the outcome of this hearing tomorrow, we need to get Washington County to update the laws around gas station placement. Please join the over 200 other County residents who have signed our petition to introduce a 1,500 setback for gas stations from sensitive locations like wetlands, parks, schools, etc.
Thank you,
Brandon
